Setting Them Up for Success

Setting Them Up for Success

In this training, we’ll explore how we can set a child up for success based on the parenting style we use and by empowering their brains and bodies. We will explore four styles of parenting and look at how an authoritative approach is most effective for children. We will then compare traditional styles of parenting to connected styles of parenting, and why traditional approaches are less effective for children with a traumatic background. We will learn the first Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) principle: the empowering principle. We will discuss how we can empower a child’s body and brain by meeting their physical and environmental needs, create a safe environment, and explore physical empowerment by discussing the importance of hydration, nutrition, healthy touch, sleep, physical activity, and regulation. This is a free two hour credited training. Free childcare will be provided and Kaden’s Kloset will be open for shopping. Please RSVP with the number of adults and children of all ages to Becky Groeneweg at Becky.Groeneweg@LSIowa.org.
