A smart, inquisitive child, Austin likes to ask questions. He is a little shy, but can be outgoing in a structured setting. Austin enjoys reading, soccer, hockey, being outdoors, school, and movies. He is an intelligent guy and excels at academics. Adults in his life describe Austin as “creative with a positive disposition.”

When Austin entered foster care he fell behind other students in his classroom, but he has since caught up and is doing well at school.

 

A potential adoptive family should be able to model and enforce appropriate boundaries and interactions with adults and other children in a structured setting. A family that can provide a high level of supervision would be best for this sibling group. Austin would love to play sports, watch movies, and have fun in a family with a mom and dad, and a dog.

 

Alicia is Austin’s little sister, and like her brother, can be quite shy around unfamiliar people. However, once you get to know her, Alicia is a fun, interesting child to be around. She is fascinated with the world around her and is always ready for a new activity. She enjoys cheerleading, animals, bowling, reading, school, and playing with friends.

 

Alicia sometimes struggles with one-on-one interactions, but is currently improving due to counseling. She enjoys receiving attention and benefits from positive reinforcement. Alicia is a little behind her peers at school, but her skills in all subjects have improved with the stability she’s found in her foster home. She has an IEP in place, and is making progress at catching up with her classmates.

 

Alicia would benefit from a loving family who can provide a structured environment, academic assistance, and attention. Since she is so active and curious, a young couple might be best for Alicia. She would like a family that is “smart and caring” and that celebrates holidays together. Alicia wants people to know that she is “happy and a good friend.” 

At this time, Austin and Alicia's worker is only considering potential adoptive families who reside in Iowa or states bordering Iowa.
