Indianola: Overview session

Indianola: Overview session

Do you have some extra room in your home AND heart?

Consider becoming a foster parent for Iowa's children!

We are looking for families who can care for larger sibling groups and school aged children who need safe foster homes!

Youth enter foster care through no fault of their own and need a caring, stable family for temporary care, a few days to several months, or for the purpose of permanency through guardianship or adoption.

Foster parents can be a single person or a partnered or married couple and come from diverse and varied backgrounds.

If you want to help but aren’t ready to become a foster parent, you can make a difference by referring someone you know who would be a great foster/adoptive family or by volunteering to help us get the word out about Four Oaks Fostering Connections.

Please plan to attend and hear more about how you can help your community support children & families in the child welfare system.

Date:
Thursday, December 7, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Location:
New Heights Church Offices 208 W. Ashland, Suite 300 Indianola, IA 50125

West Des Moines: It's Not About You-Surviving the Holidays

West Des Moines: It's Not About You-Surviving the Holidays

The It’s Not About You trauma training series developed by the NCTSN provides a discussion based training format for foster and adoptive families to explore a variety of specific topics regarding children and families impacted by trauma.  It’s Not About You-Surviving the Holidays module explores the potential stresses and triggers children and families may experience during what is a joyful, yet at times chaotic, time of year which may disrupt routines and create potential pitfalls in the home.  Attendees will explore strategies to prevent excessive holiday stress and learn ways to respond to potential traumatic reactions children may experience during this time of year.
